Angel Rodriguez

Computer Engineer and Technical Writer

Dual-degree student at UMass Amherst pursuing a B.S. in Computer Engineering and a B.A. in English with a focus in Technical Writing. My engineering interests center on chip design and VLSI, such as understanding how integrated circuits are designed, built, and used to power modern technology—while my work in technical writing complements that focus through clear and effective engineering documentation. I also have professional experience in IT, and outside of my technical work, I enjoy creative writing, particularly poetry.

About

Who Am I?

I’m originally from Springfield, Massachusetts, and my background has shaped my interest in technology and communication. I enjoy learning how things work, solving problems hands-on, and making complex ideas easier for others to understand.

My experience in IT support and hardware repair taught me to approach problems patiently and methodically, while remembering that there is always a person on the other end. Beyond academics and work, I stay involved in engineering and STEM communities, especially through opportunities to make technology and technical education more accessible to students.

I’m bilingual in English and Spanish and earned the Massachusetts Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction in Spanish. Writing is also an important creative outlet for me—especially poetry and nonfiction—because it gives me a way to explore ideas beyond engineering.
